Bayanihan Immigration

“Bayanihan” is a Filipino value that means to help each other, especially in times of significant needs, calamities, and emergencies. From the root word, “bayan,” which means our land or community, we can also derive the expression “bayani,” which means hero in “bayanihan.”

It denotes the innate desire to think of the plight of one’s neighbourhood and how to help out the other members of the community. Thus, in serving others, one becomes a hero.

Furthermore, when it is a collaboration of a group of people supporting each other, then everyone becomes a hero. Thus, the “Bayanihan” spirit is present as unity and cooperation are demonstrated in working together for the common goal. There are no strangers, and everyone is treated like a family member.

Eligibility for Immigration to Canada:

What are the eligibility criteria for immigrating to Canada, and which immigration programs am I eligible for based on my age, education, work experience, and language proficiency?

Canada offers various immigration programs, each with its eligibility criteria. The most common programs include the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program under the Express Entry system, Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), Family Sponsorship, and others. Generally, eligibility is based on age, education, work experience, language proficiency in English or French, and adaptability. To determine your eligibility, complete the Come to Canada tool on the IRCC website or consult an RCIC.

Express Entry Process:

How do I create an Express Entry profile, how is my Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score calculated, what are my chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency, and what are the steps after receiving an ITA?

To enter the Express Entry pool, you must create an online profile, providing information on your skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other details. Your profile will then be scored using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which awards points based on age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and Canadian connections. While CRS scores required for receiving an ITA vary with each draw, having a higher score increases your chances. After receiving an ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency. The processing time for most cases is six months or less.

Study Permits:

What are the requirements for obtaining a study permit in Canada, how can I apply, am I allowed to work while studying, and are there pathways to permanent residency for international students?

To obtain a study permit, you must have been accepted by a designated learning institution in Canada. You need to prove you have enough money to pay for your tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation. You may be allowed to work on or off-campus for up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks without a separate work permit. Additionally, the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) offers pathways to permanent residency for international students by allowing them to gain Canadian work experience.

Work Permits:

How can I obtain a work permit in Canada? What are the differences between open and employer-specific work permits, the eligibility criteria and application process, and how can I transition from a temporary work permit to permanent residency?”

There are two main types of work permits: open work permits and employer-specific work permits. An open work permit allows you to work for any employer in Canada. In contrast, an employer-specific work permit requires you to work for a specific employer within a particular location. Eligibility criteria and application processes vary depending on the specific work permit. Transitioning from a temporary work permit to permanent residency is possible through several pathways, including the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and various PNPs.

Sponsorship:

Who am I eligible to sponsor to come to Canada, what are the eligibility criteria for both the sponsor and the sponsored person, what are the financial requirements, and how long does the sponsorship process take?

Canadian citizens or permanent residents can sponsor their spouse, partner, children, parents, grandparents, and, in some cases, other relatives to come to Canada. To be a sponsor, you must meet specific income requirements (except when sponsoring your spouse or dependent children in some cases), prove that you can provide for the basic needs of the person being sponsored, and agree with the Government of Canada. The processing times for sponsorship applications vary depending on the relationship to the sponsored person and the country from which they are applying.
